A historical drama about the coalmine empire K. K. Fargo & Son and the mineworkers’ big strike that took place “at the time when the winter would never end”.
At the same time this is a drama about the son Lukas, who was supposed to take over his father’s great company. Unfortunately it appears that he is completely unqualified. Examined by the scientists he is given the diagnosis IDIOT! There is no cure against that, so Lukas is to be placed on an institution.
The younger sister Marta, who is a “butterfly with a lion heart”, loves her awkward brother and won’t let him suffer in the hell of the loony bin. They run off together and let themselves sink all the way to the bottom of the ice-cold town struck by strike.
Who will endure? The mineworkers? Lukas and Marta? …Or K.K. Fargo?
Nine actors, who also perform the music, are telling this strong, touching and humorous story about “the fight for justice”.
